Chrysalix Energy Announces Three New Clean
Energy Investments:
Cyrium Technologies, SiM Composites and Ardica Technologies
VANCOUVER, Canada
(September 15, 2005) -- Chrysalix Energy Management (“Chrysalix
Energy”), a global venture capital firm focused on early-stage
clean energy technologies, today announced three new investments by
Chrysalix Energy II U.S. Limited Partnership: Cyrium Technologies, SiM
Composites and Ardica Technologies. Each company has identified new,
unique, large market opportunities within the rapidly developing global
clean energy industry.
Cyrium Technologies
is applying its proprietary nanostructures to GaAs photovoltaic (PV)
solar cells, with the expectation of a dramatic increase in both efficiency
and radiation hardness. “Not only are these the two key attributes
to space-based markets,” said Jim Fletcher, Managing Director
at Chrysalix Energy, “but the improved performance may expand
terrestrial markets for GaAs-based PV modules.”
SiM Composites is
creating unprecedented proton exchange materials based on multifunctional
silica and polymer. Mike Walkinshaw, Managing Director at Chrysalix
Energy said, “We expect to see SiM’s membranes revolutionize
many proton exchange membrane markets due to their improved performance
and lower cost. Their technology could have a significant impact on
fuel cells for stationary and automotive applications as well as membranes
for water desalination”.
Ardica Technologies
is producing a simple, low cost fuel cell system with a unique fuelling
solution, remarkable energy density and several new consumer product
concepts. This innovative micro fuel cell company’s development
is attracting eager potential partners. The team and early technology
direction are originally from Stanford University.
